Planner's Comments
Tullochroisk is a fantastic area which consists of fast running open grassland, mature woodland, tough hillside and forestry plantation. The plantation has suffered in recent years with some windblown and felling and the heather can be hard going, however course have been planned to avoid this wherever possible. The tough nature of the terrain is reflected in the course lengths, but be prepared for times to be at the upper limit of guidelines for all but the super fit!
Starts
There will be 2 starts. One for the SOL courses and one for the WRE Elites. Both will be a short distance from Parking/Assembly. The start times are from 12:00 until 14:00 unless running the WRE Elite courses which are seeded and competitors will not be able to specify a start preference.
Map
The Map will be at a scale of 1:10,000 and A3 in size for all courses except White, Yellow and Orange which will have an A4 1:7,500 map. The map will be colour laser printed for all courses. It was surveyed and drawn by Deeside Orienteering & Leisure Maps in 2008 with minor updates and amendments during Winter 2014/15. A copy of the map can be seen here.
String Course
There will be a string course near Parking/Assembly. (free entry)
Road Crossings
WRE and SOL Brown/Blue Courses cross a minor road which WILL NOT be manned. Competitors are responsible for safely crossing. Juniors "running up" please note British Orienteering 2014 rules 14.21 & 14.22.
Shadowing
