About the area
Last used nationally for the Compass Sport Cup Scottish qualification round in 2016, Dumyat is very much 'Stirling's hill'; its steep, craggy slopes tower above the small village of Blairlogie. Despite its relatively modest height of 418m, Dumyat is a big hill in a little body; its commanding position as the westernmost outlier of the Ochil Hills makes it instantly recognisable, and its summit is one of the finest viewpoints in the Central Belt. Thankfully the slopes to the west and north are less steep than its southern flanks, yielding some intricate contour detail and a variety of runnability. Always open, but not always fast! Further west towards Stirling University are the beautifully mixed woods of Yellowcraig and Hermitage, the latter directly adjoining the university campus.
Safety & Clothing
Competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety at all times. Full body cover is required. Due to the height of the start for longer courses, cagoules and whistles may be made compulsory.
Directions / Parking
This event will be based at Stirling University, with the Event Centre located at the Golf Pavilion NS814968. Parking will be on the university campus, with ample available in the main car parks near the Cottrell building, a short - ca. 1.1km - walk across the Link Bridge to the EC. Closer parking might be available at the halls of residence; the closest main car park will be at the Medical Centre (NS810968 - ca. 400m from the EC) although we might reserve this for helpers and those travelling with small children. There will be no charge for parking.
