Further Information

Date - Wednesday 19th February

Time - We will leave the parking area at 18:30 for a short jog to the start. Courses close 20:00. If you're a few minutes late and we've already left for the start, head c500m on a NW bearing and you may catch up!

Venue - King's Park. Parking at NS789927. This is "the usual" parking place off Kings Park Road and near to The Pavilion eatery.

Terrain - Fast undulating runnable golf course with pockets of trees/copses. No road crossings. Courses stick to the nice bits of area. Should be some nice head-to-head fast and gaffled orienteering. More suitable for beginners to night orienteering than other venues in the night series!

Map scale - 1:4,000, 2.5m contours, with some minor updates specifically for this event.

Courses: Long - 6.0km, EWT c28 minutes. Short - 4.3km. Beginner (to Night Orienteering) - 2.0km. TD4/3 (ish). Maps will be handed out before the start.

Gaffling on Long and Short courses. I've tried to come up with a unique gaffling approach. No gaffling on Beginner course.

Public Transport - the parking is a 1.5km jog from Stirling station. If you need a lift from a station close by I can put a shout out for you on the FVO carshare Whatapps group.

Entry - Email me by Monday 17th February, 10pm. Include your SI number and say which course you want to run. NO CONTACT = NO MAP!

Cost - BOF/SOA members Adults £4 / Juniors/students £3. Non-members £6/£4.

Under 16s – must be accompanied by an adult at all times, unless accredited as an experienced night orienteer (having completed three night events, and achieved BOF 5* daytime status).

Timing - SportIDENT and reflective canes.

Safety - spare torch and whistle are mandatory, and wearing/carrying hooded waterproof jacket is mandatory if deemed necessary by the organiser.

Note - Car park are close to houses and are often used by others, so please park considerately and change discreetly.

Post event food - I will book a table for food afterwards at the Portcullis Inn if there is sufficient interest. Please let me know in advance.
