27th - 28th JUNE, 2020
Drumlanrig, SW Scotland
Forth Valley Orienteers are pleased to welcome you to the Harvester Trophy 2020. With the kind co-operation of SOLWAY who have granted use of their map, and Buccleuch Estates for access to the forest and arena, we invite you to Drumlanrig Castle in June to compete for the Open, Women’s and Handicap trophies.
Drumlanrig Castle (GR: NX852993; Postcode DG3 4AG) is 65 km from the M74 (J22 at Gretna), 100 minutes from Edinburgh, 3 hours from Manchester and only 6 from London. The area is well-known from previous Scottish 6 Days, Championships and other events. The castle is a popular tourist attraction.
The following classes are offered:
- A Class: Teams of 7; all TD5; Start time 2400; Expected winning time 7 hours
- Harvester Trophy
- Handicap Trophy (49 points or less)
- Small club Trophy (best team that has not been in the top 3 in the Trophy during the past 5 years)
- B Class: Teams of 5; TD 5 (except Leg 3 – TD3); Start time 0200; Expected winning time 5 hours.

Borderliners have an urban event at Alston on Saturday 27th, which is only 125 km from the Arena.
Unfortunately we have had to take the sad decision to postpone the 2020 Harvester Trophy, which was originally scheduled for the weekend of 27th - 28th June, 2020.
Whilst the current guidelines issued by British Orienteering (as of 17th March) only require cancellation of all events for 12 weeks, up to 6th June, the difficulties imposed on planning and organisational activities by this and other HMG guidance to limit the spread of COVID-19, combined with the very real risk of extended and/or increased measures being put into effect in the intervening period, have lead us to decide that the risk of eventual forced cancellation is very high. We've therefore decided to declare our decision now rather than to commit the club to significant expenditure that we might ultimately be unable to recoup.
We very much hope to be able to reschedule the event at a later date, rather than entirely cancel it, but the situation is too fluid at this point to commit to a new date as yet. Equally, even if orienteering does resume after summer, the calendar might be creaking at the seams! Please bear with us and be assured that we will do our best to hold the event if we possibly can.
