Wednesday evening coaching sessions with GG

Are you feeling inspired to get better after watching the World Orienteering Championships? Develop your orienteering skills through six linked coaching sessions, learning from one of the best in the World Graham Gristwood supported by other FVO coaches. The sessions are for juniors and adults members who are at or working towards technical levels 4 and 5 ( light green or above). They are on Wednesday evenings from 6.15 to 7.15pm from the 2 September until 21 October. The sessions will be in woods and parks in the Stirling and Falkirk area. The sessions cost £3 for adults and £1.50 for juniors for each session. You will receive one session free if you sign up for all six in advance.

To register your interest please email Nicola Melville at nicolamelville1@btinternet.com and let me know what skills you would particularly like to work on. If you would like to discuss which areas you should work on to improve then let me know. This will help us design progressive sessions to meet your needs.

Prefer to self train on Wednesday evenings?

If you would like to practice your technique, but not as part of the coached sessions, then you can still take part in Wednesday evening training sessions on a map only basis. This would give you the flexibility to practice what you want using the controls put out for the coaching sessions. You can talk to coaches for advice as needed. Its a great chance to meet up and train with others in the club.

Please note that two of the eight Wednesday evening sessions will be self train sessions only.

Please email to register your interest to Nicola Melville nicolamelville1@btinternet.com but let me know you are self training. This will help us know the number of maps to print. Cost is the same.

Sunday Come and Train Sessions/ FVO Junior Stars

These sessions are open to members and new participants. They are great to encourage friends and family to come along to try the sport, as well as providing club training. There are colour coded courses to meet all levels of ability. There are coaching sessions for beginners and for FVO Junior Stars - who are working towards their Scottish Orienteering Star Awards. Others in the club can use the courses to self train and ask talk to coaches for advice as needed. The sessions are monthly: 13 September, 4 October, 21 November( Club Championships no FVO Junior Stars session), 21 February, 20 March.

If you would like to participate in FVO Junior Stars coached sessions please can you register your interest with Nicola Melville nicolamelville1@btinternet.com. I can then send you more information.
