Not Just a Walk in the Park for FVO

FVO Score Big at Palacerigg
Forth Valley Orienteers' athletes added another four national titles to the trophy collection at the Scottish Score Championships in Cumbernauld's Palacerigg Country Park.

Club Championships Bring Joy for All
Photos now added. Nearly 100 orienteers competed in the 2016 FVO Club Championships, at Mine Woods, Bridge of Allan, and there were a string of fine performances to round off a successful season for local athletes.

Spirited Body and SOUL
Victory for Roger Goddard at the Tinto Twin urban race was enough to clinch second place overall in the BTO Scottish Urban League. Roger finished seven points behind Moravian's World Masters bronze medalist Jon Hollingdale in the Veteran Mens' class, winning three of the nine series races (to Hollingdale's four).

We've Won the League (again, in some cases!)
There is a distinctly Blue and Yellow flavour to the final Compass Sport Scottish Orienteering League tables. FVO has 12 athletes in top position in the Age Group tables, and a further 16 in top three spots, while the Colour Class tables have 15 athletes in top ten positions.

FVO Juniors beat all the clubs in Scotland……except Maroc!!
Well done to all our 19 juniors who turned out in force today for the hotly-contested Jamie Stevenson Trophy. We had boys and girls competing on all the courses, Yellow through to Green, and the six people whose results counted to the final position were all on different courses. This shows fantastic strength in depth, and a bright future for FVO! Our final score was 587, narrowly behind Maroc, who had 594.

Beecraigs WEE and BBQ
What could be better on a warm summer evening after you have blitzed round your course at a WEE than a sizzling barbecue!! I can’t guarantee either the first or second (although here’s hoping) but I can guarantee the third. The FVO summer barbecue will be fired up at Beecraigs next Wednesday evening so do come along, any time after 5.30pm at the purpose-built barbecue pit.
