We received confirmation today that our application has been successful, and we're very happy to confirm that FVO has become just the 4th club in Scotland to be awarded Silver Standard accreditation by Scottish Orienteering.
The scheme marks clubs on their overall organisation and readiness for competition, and our processes and procedures were marked against a comprehensive checklist of "excellence" standards.
Having attained Bronze standard in 2020, it took us only 12 months to step up to the next level, despite all the setbacks to event organisation imposed by the COVID lockdowns last year. Major thanks are due to Jennifer Leonard, who masterminded the application process during her tenure as club President. Due to COVID restrictions, there hasn't been an opportunity for a physical presentation of the award, but hopefully this can rectified soon.
We're not resting on our laurels though, and the application for Gold standard, which has yet to be attained by any club, is currently being worked on. Go, Go, FVO!
