Forth Valley Orienteers, in conjunction with Forestry Commission Scotland are delighted to announce the inauguration of a new Permanent Orienteering Course at The Lodge Forest Visitor Centre, Aberfoyle.
To celebrate the opening of the new course, there will be an Open Day on Sunday 18th June, from 10am til 1pm. The Activity Hub is available on the day with access to changing facilities, showers, hot and cold drinks and snacks.
There are three courses on offer, at Yellow (1.3km), Orange (2km) and Light Green (2.6km) levels of difficulty. This will be "old-school" orienteering, with manual timing and "write down the codes" control checking.
This is a fantastic orienteering area, which was used for the 2016 Junior European Championships and promises to be extremely popular with visitors and local orienteers alike. Entry on the day is completely free, and there will be experienced orienteering coaches on hand to offer advice, coaching and encouragement.
