A hat trick of medals for the same family was the highlight for Forth Valley Orienteers at the British Middle Championships in Yorkshire.

There was a smaller local entry for this event than in recent weeks, with school exams and injury ruling out a number of medal prospects, but it was a big day for the Inman family, with all three on the champions roster.

Hannah further extended her unbeaten run in W12 (23.39) and now has eight championship titles in 2024 alone. Janine equalled her championship best with silver in W45 (35.47) and there was a 6th medal at this level for Jason, bronze in M50 in 39.59.

There were also a couple of near-run things, with Esme Finch 4th in W12 (27.47), behind Hannah, and Roger Goddard 4th in M50 (42.52), behind Jason. Geoffrey Hensman equalled his best result in the championship with 10th in M75 (39.57), while Dawn Goddard' fine season continued with 12th in W55 (40.48) for a new best score.

The second event of a packed weekend was the North of England Championships in the Yorkshire Dales, and there were five FVO athletes in podium positions, but no medals, as, unlike several of the other area championships, the Northern is closed for medals to anyone but those in membership of a Northern club

Roger Goddard turned in a fine performance in M50L, taking the win in 62.22, and was joined on the top step by Hannah Inman in W12 (28.11). Janine Inman (W45L - 65.06) and Heather Fellbaum (W60L - 56.37) were both 3rd in their class, while Valerie Finch won W70S in 65.16.
