Social & Training Weekend

by Roger Goddard — 8th January 2012.

Thank you for your positive responses to the above social weekend on the west coast. Unfortunately we have taken the decision to move the accommodation venue to Oban.

We have found out that there is a middle race organised by Clyde on a good area near Oban on the Saturday. With the Sunday SOL also based near Oban, it does not make sense to have everyone travelling to and from the Glencoe accommodation on both days.

I have been in touch with Corran House in Oban, a 4-Star Hostel with a variety of room types from 4-bed standard dormitories to en suite guest rooms. For an evening meal, we have the choice of using the hostel’s kitchen facilities or eating in the pub in the basement. They have enough space to accommodate at least 20 (maybe more) of us for Saturday 17 March, so I have provisionally booked 20 spaces in a variety of rooms under the name of FVO.

I suggest that it is easier for everyone to book their accommodation direct with Corran House, which will allow you to choose your rooms on a first come basis. However I am happy to help coordinate singles into dormitories.

As a result, If you are interested in staying at Corran House and sharing in this social weekend, then for couples and families, please go ahead and contact Lynsey at Corran House on 01631 566040 (or complete the online booking form but don’t forget to mention FVO). For individuals, then please let me know to book you a space in a dormitory or twin room. I strongly suggest that you do this before Friday 20 January to avoid disappointment.

Many apologies for any inconvenience caused with the change in venue. For those of you who choose not to stay at Corran House, we still hope to see you all at both the Saturday and Sunday events, and will look to organise an FVO teashop visit on the Saturday.
