Event details

This is an urban event, so please note the following arrangements:

  • Participants should note various risks including road crossings, slippery steps/banks near the loch and car park crossings. Please also take care and show respect to other users of the Peel / High St (pedestrians, cyclists, dog walkers and swans). Participants take part at their own risk.

  • Unaccompanied children (under 16s) may not do the Long course as it includes busy road crossings. They may do the Short course (round the Palace parkland, this does however include crossing the Palace car park - which may have moving vehicles - and having to go past the swans) or the Medium course (round the Loch, includes running on a wide pavement for 50m next to busy Blackness Road and also crossing a car park). Parents are responsible for the safety of their children. Please note that the swans can be quite intimidating for young children.

  • Reports of indecent exposures at Linlithgow Loch

    • Police in West Lothian are appealing for witnesses following two incidents of indecent exposure on Tuesday 19th April.
    • Parents may wish to accompany under-16s on the Medium course which goes round the loch
    • Participant should carry a whistle to attract notice in the event of any repeats of these incidents
  • Long course - this has been planned to allow use of the traffic light pedestrian crossings located on the High Street, as there is likely to be busy traffic up to around 6pm. These are not obligatory crossing points but are strongly encouraged in order to avoid runners trying to cross through the daily Linlithgow afternoon traffic jam.

  • Long course - Although they may open during the event by other users, some gates are marked as uncrossable or out of bounds on the map in order to create route choices and fairness (gates may be opened/closed during the event) for the Long course. Please do not cross these gates/areas.

  • Please do not enter private gardens, driveways and entrance closes (marked in olive green on the map).

  • Toilets are available in an automated toilet adjacent to the car park (10p entry) or at Tesco (500m to the east) on the Blackness Road.

  • Registration is a public car park next to a playground, please be discreet when getting changed.

  • Courses close at 8pm prompt.
