Abbotshaugh Sunday Feb 4th 2024
Final Details have been updated, Sat eve Feb 3rd re car parking.
First used in dec 2019 on a new map drawn by Chris Smithard with updates June 2021. Blue, Green, Light Green, Orange and Yellow standard courses on offer.
Provisional details: This is a small but surprisingly nice area, comprising the Cobblebrae and Abbotshaugh Community woodlands, with a good deal of fast, runnable forest, not much by way of brambles, and a very unexpected sculpture. Peter Owen has planned interesting courses, with lengths subject to final controlling:
Yellow – 2.0 Orange – 2.5km Light Green – 3.9km Green – 5.0km Blue – 5.9km
Registration and start/finish will be at the playing field area adjacent to the small car park off Haugh St . We suggest priority parking for families here, but it is a bit mucky and wet. There is on-street parking nearby, such as at/around Dawson Park or you could park at either the Helix (free) or Kelpies hub (£3) and cycle or jog the Falkirk Hartt cycle route via the tracks south of the River Carron to the venue (about 1.8miles) (see map attached below), or take the train to Falkirk Grahamston and use the 2km to the start as a warm up. Nearest toilets are at the Kelpies Hub car park, and there is also a cafe at the Kelpies visitor centre.
Starts are from 11am to 12:30 and courses close at 2pm.
Entries remain open on those courses which have spare maps (shown on the entry system). Final details and control descriptions here. (Note: no loose descriptions at start)
