Polmaise and Sauchie

A variety of terrain including mature and runnable mixed forest, pockets of old mining detail, detailed rock features and an area with an extensive minor path network. A brand new map has been produced for the event. Maps will be pre- marked on waterproof paper.

  • RED Start (North, from the top of the field) For Courses 1-3. 1.3km fairly flat apart from one 50m climb.

Parking and Assembly

Parking and Assembly are in a field.
Registration 1030-1230, Starts 1100-1300. There will be a £1 charge per car.

Due to the large number of entries PLEASE SHARE TRANSPORT. Single occupancy cars will be frowned upon.

Traders

Compass Point intend to be present at SOL2. There will also be the ScotJos cake stall and Callum White's hot drink's stall to raise money for the World Schools Champs.

Directions

Polmaise and Sauchie are on the west side of Stirling, NS773908.

From the north:

Leave the M9 at J10 and follow signs to Stirling city centre. After a number of roundabouts turn right on the inner ring road signposted to St Ninian's and Torbrex. Travel along the east side of Kings Park and turn right at the double roundabout along the south side of Kings Park. At the next roundabout go straight on towards Torbrex. After 800m take a right over the motorway, then follow signs to car park.

From the south:

Leave the M9 and J9 and take the A872 towards Stirling. After 2.5km take a left at the roundabout onto the B8051 and after 300m turn left. After 1km turn left over the motorway, then follow signs to car park.

Dogs

Dogs are allowed but please keep them on a lead in the car park.

General Information

Competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety. Whistles should be carried. In the event of bad weather, cagoules may be compulsory. Check the FVO website for the final details and any last minute updates, particularly in the case of severe weather.

On Saturday afternoon 2nd April, there is a Nopesport Urban League orienteering event at Erskine organised by Clyde; why not make a weekend of it?
