Further Information

Restrictions Due to the Covid-19 travel restrictions currently in place, this activity is only open to adults and juniors who are resident either in West Lothian or Falkirk council areas (since Beecraigs is within 5 miles of the council boundary).

Start times Anytime from 10:00 on 5 Dec to 16:00 on 6 Dec

Courses Yellow: 2.2km Orange: 3.0km Green: 4.6km Blue: 6.2km

The Yellow and Orange courses are both quite tricky so inexperienced juniors may wish to drag an adult round with them. There will be flags at all control locations (except for the Start/Finish) on these courses, and the flags will have the control code attached. Please do not touch the flags as they are just there to help you know you’re in the right place – there is no SI unit to dib!

It is possible that flags will get stolen during the weekend, so if you think you’re in the right place and there’s no flag to be seen, just continue on your course.

The Blue and Green courses do not have flags at the control locations, so you’ll just need to navigate to the feature! The Blue course also crosses the Bathgate road twice – there is an obvious place to cross on both occasions with good visibility, but please be very careful when crossing. Any under-16s on the Blue course should be accompanied by an adult for this reason.

Results This is not an official event but if you record your route with a GPS device and email it as a GPX file to Paul Hammond, we will be able to extract your split times and compile a table of results.

Entries This activity is open to anyone living in either West Lothian or Falkirk council areas (since Beecraigs is within 5 miles of the council boundary) and is free of charge. Course maps and final details will be available to download via a link on this page from Friday evening onwards.
