Forth Valley Orienteers, in conjunction with Forestry Commission Scotland are delighted to announce the inauguration of a new Permanent Orienteering Course at The Lodge Forest Visitor Centre, Aberfoyle.

Over 60 people turned out on the day to sample the new courses, which have been designed to suit most ages and abilities from families with young children to experienced orienteers or adventurous runners who aren’t afraid to leave the path. There are three courses on offer, at Yellow (1.3km), Orange (2km) and Light Green (2.6km) levels of difficulty.

Event organiser Jason Inman said afterwards "It was great to see a lot of new people, who were interested to try the sport and lots of young families keen to enjoy the challenge of navigation and forest adventure. I'm confident that word will quickly spread about this excellent free resource, and this will be a popular addition to the attractions already available at The Lodge."

Maps of all three courses are now permanently available, to use for free, from the reception desk at The Lodge. This is a fantastic orienteering area, which was used for the 2016 Junior European Championships and promises to be extremely popular with visitors and local orienteers alike.
